My latest creation...

.... is coming along nicely. Looks like all the late nights I've been doing lately will merely count as 'light practice'.

Business Cards Arrived!

Its always nice to see a design become real, and now i hold in my hand my first ever business card for the new company. Doesn't look too bad for a first timer, hopefully they bring some good luck.

A New Start(up)

So, it's time to make it official! I'm very excited to announce that I've just started my own Games company with some esteemed colleagues from the early days of Lionhead and Fable. We are called 'Another Place' and we'll be attempting to make some pretty interesting and original games for people to play.

I put together the logo and website stuff and its all up and running here (we'll have some stuff to show on there at some point soon):

Here we go!

New Office! (kinda)

So here's my new office... in my hoose. I'll be locked in here for the next few months trying to work out how to make a living (likely clad only in slippers, underpants and old metal t-shirts). Hopefully have an update on how its all goin' soon. It's brown trousers time!

Farewell Albion!

After almost 12 years, 4 releases, 12 million copies sold and around a million late nights I finally left Lionhead Studios and my job as Art Director of 'Fable'. Its hard to sum up in words the whirlwind of creativity I experienced working there, how proud i am of what we achieved and the massive amount of (often very wrong) fun I had with some of the best people in the industry.

So I'll do it with pictures (random sketches, renders, photos from over the years... forgive some of the very old artwork..).

Awrabest Albion! *sniff*

Birthday Thingy

It was a mate's 40th birthday this weekend and i thought i'd knock up an image for him. First image of the year...

International Self-Portrait Day

Set a challenge at work to knock out some self portraits for the occasion. I've never done this before so i thought i'd try two styles: straight up pencil and mirror (with digital fiddling) and high contrast comic style. Not quite there but were good fun to do.

Apologies for the intensely threatening face. It was a gift from my parents.

Random Sketch Madness

Not posted anything in ages due to some work commitments so i thought i'd throw in some real messy sketches i did recently. Less practice penmanship, more the brainwrongs of one off man mental.

Japan Project Update

So the Japan Project animatic i did is now up on YouTube if anyone fancies a look (and a listen). Its pretty low quality and is only a test piece but it gets the idea across so dig in and, if yer feeling particularly generous, why not donate to the Red Cross in the link provided.

Cheers!

Latest Sculpt.

Here's me latest attempt. Its a caricatured bust of an old admiral or something. I kinda made it up as i was going along. Loads of fun to do though and took about 2 days, start to finish.

Stills from 'Japan Project'

I thought i'd post some stills from a personal project i worked on for the Japan Tsunami appeal. It was a 2 minute animatic drawn digitally frame-by-frame and put to some music. Unfortunately i'm still waiting on the permission to show the video because of the soundtrack copywright. One day....

As with all the images on this blog... click on them to enlargesize.

Banshee Sculpt

This is another early attempt at some Super Sculpey work (with my first armature). Its a Banshee creature from our game 'Fable II'.

Sketch

Sketched this up in photoshop the other day... trying to get into that whole 'Childrens Book' illustration feel.

Early Sculpey Attempts

Here's my first attempts at using super sculpey from a couple of years ago. Its a robot thing from Frezzato's 'Maser' series and a creature from Henson's 'Dark Crystal'... Not great, but a start.

The Boon Hoose opens.

Hullo me!

So, i thought i'd try out this whole 'blogging' thing to see what all the fuss is aboot. Hopefully it pushes me to get my finger out and start producing more personal work. Here goes!

I'll start with this image i did of myself, my wife Becca and my wee boy Adam (as well as his favourite toys). A reasonably successful xmas present... well, its made my wife cry... which means I totally won xmas.
